The Pros and Cons of the DNA Toxin
Jun. 25th, 2012 10:38 am The DNA Altering Toxin as it is known in long form was an experimental drug created with goals along a similar line of APTX. However, being created by the Section... It was somewhat sketchier.
One of the more terrifying aspects of the Section was their idea of punishment and their willingness to experiment on their own; those there were imprisoned more or less by fear, internal explosives, and threats... Threats that were carried out without hesitation and threats that were far more dire than death itself.
Those in the Section typically shared an apartment like room; Gin was no different, and he shared with one of the Coworkers to Tenshi 'Rioja' Matsuda... Namely the agent 'Shochu'. Shochu and Rioja were both a part of the project of the DNA Toxin; however, shortly after a few samples were completed, events came about that incarcerated Shochu.
The punishment was this; judgement by sample. If she died? Then she died? If something happened? Research. If nothing happened?
Nothing happened. And so it was... But in actuality, the time it took for the poison to take effect was curiously long; and in fact, when the poison took effect, it was the closest thing to immortality the section had discovered.
And they didn't even realize it.
The poison created a sort of cancer within the body, extending the number of times cells could divide to the point of total regeneration whilst creating a separate species of DNA within the body, one which, if allowed, would take over entirely. Though easily pushed back due to the memories and persona of the original, this would nonetheless have the effect of bringing new instincts, to the point of altering minor personality traits if caught off guard. The second species could be anything; typically a living, existing beast, but limited only by imagination before it was 'decided' by the body and poison both.
Koji, who got his dose when Rioja spiked his drink with the flavourless and textureless drug, would be heavily caught off guard by the sudden addition of a White Tiger.
As such, there are a few pros and cons to list on the side effects for him; for while the poison allows freeform shifting between the two, he doesn't quite have the grasp on it that Conan would eventually get.
So!
For those curious by the way, Conan got a giant bird that no longer exists. It was kinda the apex predator at the time though.
